HARRISBURG – South Fayette Township has been awarded a grant to install updated signal equipment at Washington Pike and Twin Ponds Lane, Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) announced today.
The $313,130 grant was awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) “Green Light-Go” program.
“Effective traffic signals both improve the flow of traffic and protect the health and safety of drivers, passengers and pedestrians,” Ortitay said. “This is an important investment in the South Fayette community.”
Green Light-Go grants are provided as reimbursement to municipalities for updates to improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Grant funding through the program may be used for a range of operational improvements including, but not limited to, light-emitting diode (LED) technology installation, traffic signal retiming, developing special event plans and monitoring traffic signals, as well as upgrading traffic signals to the latest technologies.
