SOUTH FAYETTE — Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced a $100,000 Local Share Account grant to help replace bridges in Cecil Township’s Municipal Park was approved by the Washington County Board of Commissioners.
“I’m pleased to have been able to support this important project that will maintain access to all amenities in the park,” Ortitay said. “The existing metal bridges were originally donated from another location. Unfortunately, they have outlived their usefulness and repairs would be too costly.”
The grant will be used toward replacement of four existing bridges over Millers Run in the park. All the new bridges will be expanded in length to allow easier flow of Millers Run, and two will be widened to allow access by vehicles up to 10,000 pounds.
Local Share Account grants fund economic development, job training, community improvement and public interest projects through gaming funds under Act 71 of 2004. More than $6.9 million in projects were approved for 2020 in Washington County.
The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
