Ortitay Helps Secure Collier Township Sewer Grant

BRIDGEVILLE – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced the release of $255,090 in state funds to the Collier Township Municipal Authority for new sanitary sewer lines.

Ortitay advocated for the funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Small Water and Sewer Program. The program offers grants for small water and sewer infrastructure projects and can be used to assist with the construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply or sanitary sewer system.

“Public sewers not only reduce pollutants into our land and water, but also make the area more desirable for development,” Ortitay said. “I’m pleased to have been able to assist with acquisition of funding for this project. It will eliminate some deteriorating residential systems, which have plagued homeowners in the area.”

The grant will allow the municipal authority to extend public sewers to four existing households with failing on-lot systems, one commercial property and four vacant properties along Noblestown Road.

The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
