Ortitay Pleased with State Award for Cool Valley Development

HARRISBURG — Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today expressed support for the release of $1 million in state funds for the Cool Valley Development project in Cecil Township.

The funding was awarded to the Washington County Authority through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Project (RACP) program.

“It has been eight years since this project was first proposed,” Ortitay said. “With the Southpointe Business Park almost to capacity, the Cool Valley Development project will allow for additional space for business growth. It also includes a residential component, which will allow those who are interested to live and work in the same community, thus reducing commute times. I look forward to this project moving forward quickly.”

The funding will be used for Phase One construction activities, including excavating and grading of up to 250 acres of land, as well as the installation of basic infrastructure encompassing water, gas and electricity lines and road placement. Once completed, the first phase of the project will result in about 250 acres of pad-ready sites.

Funding for the project was authorized by lawmakers in the Capital Budget Project Itemization Act.

The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
