HARRISBURG — Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced he is hosting the Taxpayers’ Caucus for a hearing on the Senate’s proposed state budget tax plan and its effect on small businesses and everyday Pennsylvanians.
The hearing will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at 1 p.m., at the Bridgeville Fire Department, 370 Commercial St.
“The Senate passed its revenue package without input from the House,” Ortitay said. “Since the vote on July 27, my House colleagues and I, along with our staffs, have been diligently going through it line by line. The number of new and increased taxes is astounding. We would like to hear directly from people about how these taxes will affect them before we return to Harrisburg to vote. I hope to see many people at the hearing.”
The Taxpayers’ Caucus was created by members of the House and Senate with the single purpose of changing the culture of Harrisburg. Those interested in speaking during the hearing are asked to call Ortitay’s district office at (412) 221-5110 by Monday, Aug. 14.
The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
