Ortitay Secures Funding for Collier Township Trail
BRIDGEVILLE – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced the release of $20,000 in state funds to Collier Township to add a walking trail at the municipal complex.
Ortitay advocated for the funding through the Commonwealth Financing Authority’s Greenway, Trails and Recreation Program, which funds projects for planning, acquisition, development, rehabilitation and repair of greenways, recreational trails, open spaces and parks.
“Collier Township is already home to a number of trails, including the head of the Panhandle Trail, the Discovery Path Walking Trail and the Neville’s Woods hiking trails” Ortitay said. “This funding will create additional trail choices for residents and visitors alike. The pandemic has shown the importance of having recreational opportunities close to home.”
The grant will be used to grade and mulch about 3,500-linear feet of a newly created walking trail at the municipal complex.
The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
