Ortitay to Host Flag Retirement Ceremony
5/29/2018
BRIDGEVILLE – To honor the American flag, Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) is hosting his third annual flag retirement ceremony on Friday, June 8.

The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. in Cecil Park, 3599 Millers Run Road, and is open to the public. As in the past, the event is conducted in conjunction with Cecil Boy Scout Troop 1369, Cecil Cub Scout Pack, Cecil Girl Scout Troop 51286 and the Cecil American Legion Post 793.

“Many people have worn U.S. flags and want to retire them properly, but don’t have the means to do so,” Ortitay said. “This annual event not only provides an opportunity to dispose of these flags, but also gives local Scouting troops a chance to participate in this solemn ceremony.”

For those not able to attend the ceremony, a flag drop-off box has been placed outside the Cecil American Legion, located at 3323 Millers Run Road in Cecil.

For more information, call Ortitay’s office at 412-221-5110.

The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
