Ortitay Offers Assistance with Property Tax/Rent Rebate Applications
HARRISBURG — Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced his staff will assist people with completing their Property Tax/Rent Rebate forms at a number of locations throughout the 46th Legislative District.
“The Property Tax/Rent Rebate program provides valuable financial assistance to our seniors and residents with disabilities,” Ortitay said. “There is no need to pay to have help filling out the necessary form. My district office staff is available to aid any resident.”
Assistance will be offered at the following locations on a first-come, first-served basis:
• Bridgeville Library – 505 McMillen St. Bridgeville; Tuesday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to noon.
• Burgettstown Senior Center – 200 Senior Way, Burgettstown; Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Canton Township Building – 655 Grove Ave., Washington; Wednesday, March 15, from 10 a.m. to noon.
• Cecil Generations Center – 3599 Millers Run Road, Cecil; Monday, March 13, from 10 a.m. to noon.
• Cloverleaf – 160 Cloverleaf Drive, Carnegie; Tuesday, March 21, from 12:30-3 p.m.
• Collier Community Center – 5 Lobaugh St., Oakdale; Tuesday, March 14, 10 a.m. to noon.
• McDonald Library – 52 4th St., McDonald; Wednesday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Eligible participants can receive a rebate of up to $650 based on their rent or property taxes paid in 2016. The program benefits eligible Pennsylvanians who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities.
Eligibility income limits are set at the following levels, excluding 50 percent of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits:
• $0 to $8,000, maximum $650 rebate (homeowners and renters).
• $8,001 to $15,000, maximum $500 rebate (homeowners and renters).
• $15,001 to $18,000, maximum $300 rebate (homeowners only).
• $18,001 to $35,000, maximum $250 rebate (homeowners only).
Applicants should be prepared to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately. Applications are due by June 30.

The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
