Ortitay Helps Secure Grant, Low-Interest Loan to Redevelop Brockway Glass Plant Site
3/26/2019
BRIDGEVILLE – Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) today announced the release of a $2 million grant and a $3 million low-interest loan to assist the Redevelopment Authority of the County of Washington in redeveloping the former Brockway Glass Plant site in Canton Township.

The money comes from the Business in Our Sites Program, a state-funded initiative which empowers communities to attract growing and expanding businesses by helping them build an inventory of ready sites.

“Redevelopment of brownfield sites should always be a goal,” Ortitay said. “I’m pleased to have been able to help secure funding for this important project. Plans are to eventually construct a warehouse and office facility to support the gas and oil industry. This grant and loan will help prepare the site for construction.”

The authority is partnering with Running Brooke II Associates to demolish the existing structures and then complete environmental remediation, retaining wall restoration, excavating and grading, and installation of utilities and related infrastructure.

The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
