Four WEDnetPA Grants Awarded in 46th District, Ortitay Says

HARRISBURG — Rep. Jason Ortitay (R-Washington/Allegheny) announced today that more than $90,000 in Workforce and Economic Development Network of Pennsylvania (WEDnetPA) grants were awarded to four companies in the 46th Legislative District.

“Without properly trained employees, businesses cannot grow and flourish,” Ortitay said. “This important program provides essential training so people can thrive in their jobs. By offering this opportunity to employers, we are signaling that Pennsylvania will assist with properly training the workforce in order for businesses to succeed.”

Grants to provide training to employees were awarded to:

• Accutrex Products Inc. for $10,748.
• Ferro Corporation for $50,147.
• Hennecke Inc. for $9,586.
• Universal Electric Corporation – Canonsburg for $20,278.

WEDnetPA is a network of 26 community colleges, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) universities and other partners that provide expert support to businesses to help assess training needs, develop training plans and apply for funding. Grants are provided through the PA First Fund.

The 46th Legislative District includes Collier and South Fayette townships and Bridgeville, Heidelberg, McDonald and Oakdale boroughs in Allegheny County. It also encompasses Canton, Cecil, Mt. Pleasant, Robinson and Smith townships and Burgettstown, McDonald and Midway boroughs in Washington County.
